THIS WEEK IN WORSHIP - Sunday, Sept 13, 2026
By Rev Steve Lyle
This Sunday, as we remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, we will reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness that that took place on that day. We call these servants heroes because they showed the greater love that Jesus taught with His words and through living out His teaching by sacrificing His life for us.
When I look back and think of these men and women who thought of others above themselves, I quickly see that heroes don’t always look like heroes. They were ordinary looking people who did the extraordinary by living a life of sacrificial love.
This Sunday, when we gather for worship, we will be gathering as a church full of heroes. What makes us heroes Iin light of the heroes we saw in action 25 years ago? I invite you to come and worship with me as we gain an understanding from the scripture of what makes a hero in the life of the church, God’s family. The title of the message for this Sunday is, “How Heroes are Made”. Our scripture focus will be; John 15:12-13 and Philippians 2:1-5. I look forward, as I do every Sunday, to being with you in worship as we draw near to the heart of our Savior.
