This service celebrates a special day on the United Methodist Church calendar, Laity Sunday. This is this day we celebrate the ministry, leadership, and witness of the laity- the non-ordained members of the church who serve our Savior and Lord in the congregation, the community, and the world.
It is a special day as we recognize the faithful service of church members who teach Sunday School, lead ministries, visit and serve those who are hurting, and share their faith through theirwords and action.
It is a time of remembering that every Christian is called to serve God using the gifts and abilities God has provided. We celebrate on this day how pastors and laypeople work together to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our scripture focus on this special day is Romans 12:4-21 and the title of the message is “Everybody is Somebody”.
