The Grace of Giving
Some people measure value by what they can get out of life and not by what they can give. As a result, these folks spend their days trying to obtain more possessions that they hope will make them feel more comfortable and secure. Then Jesus comes along and turns this thinking upside down, or I should say, right side up with these words, “It is more blessed to give, than to receive.” (Acts 20:35). The Apostle Paul calls this right-side up way of living as “the grace of giving.” It is giving that comes about because the heart is filled with love, God’s love.
In this sermon we focus our attention on the Apostle Paul’s teaching about the “Grace of Giving” and what it means in our day to day living. We focus our attention on II Corinthians 8:1-9 as Paul encourages his readers to discover that a life of giving rather than seeking to receive is what brings true joy, God’s joy to the life of the believer.
